On August 3, 2006, the U.S. Department of Education has announced the final Part B regulations to implement the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA). On August 14, 2006, the official copy of the final Part B regulations of the IDEA was published in the Federal Register.
Southwest Human Development and the Arizona Institute for Early Childhood Development are pleased to announce a new, FREE resource for parents and caregivers of young children: the Birth to Five Helpline 1-877-705-KIDS.

As parents, we don't always have all the answers to the many questions that come up when raising children. Subjects ranging from potty training, to sleeping habits, behavioral issues and nutrition can sometimes leave us feeling confused or incapable. We turn to parents or friends, but they may not always have the answers or latest information. When we visit the pediatrician, we may not remember to ask all of our questions, or we may not be dealing with a specific problem at the time of our office visit.

Early childhood development specialists, registered nurses, disabilities specialists, early literacy specialists and mental health counselors are available to answer questions you may have about your child.

The helpline is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm, and on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. This is NOT an emergency line. It is designed to help you answer everyday questions, no matter how seemingly insignificant.
