THE FALL BROCHURES (for Scottsdale Recreation Classes &
programs,) are OUT and were mailed to homes the last few weeks....if
you did not receive one, please go pick one up at your closest
community center or library.
REGISTRATION begins at 6am
on TUESDAY, JULY 25th for our AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS. There is no
fee for the afterschool programs and AREAS will fill up QUICKLY. IF
I was signing up my child, I would dial in or get on the internet
early, and stay on there until my child was registered. (I would let
my work know that I might be a little late that morning, so I could
get my child registered for a summer program)
Here is the
link to the info on the website, if that helps: (You can't register
yet, but you can see the classes/programs offered)

autism with a new vocational and life skills academyslated to break
ground early next year in Phoenix.
The academy is expected to help people with autism maximize their

Legislative Special Education Efforts An
Email from Molly Holzer, Scottsdale School Board Member
Dear All:
I hope you all are having a great summer! I
wanted to zip off this delinquent update on our legislative special
education efforts.
Thank you for all of your support with
the legislature this year. Your efforts helped. The outcome was
successful!!
Senator Carolyn Allen sponsored a bill that
supported more adequate funding for special education programs in
Arizona's public schools. The bill passed the Senate Education
Committee but never was heard in Appropriations. Senator Allen
assured me that special education would be in the final budget.
Senator Carolyn Allen stood firm and worked hard with
Leadership to insure special education was included in this years
budget. Senator Barb Leff also supported her efforts. Therefore, the
budget adds additional funding for special education programs for
ALL public schools in Arizona.
Thank you for all of your
efforts! This is a step in the right direction.....the funding has
improved but still not where it should be. We have our shoe in the
door so to speak...it is a very promising start.
Thank
you!!! Please feel free to drop Senator Allen a thank you for her
support of education and special education programs.
callen@azleg.gov or you can log on to her web site at
www.carolyn2006.com I have had the pleasure of working with Sen.
Allen on a variety of issues over the last 4 years and she has been
receptive and informed on the issues. She has the expertise and
experience to obtain results.
Thanks again, Have a nice
summer!
