2009 Special Education Workshops!

Offered by the  Arizona Department of Education

This three part series is designed to provide parents with the information and skills they need to actively participate in the Special Education process!

January 29th – Part I

February 12th – Part II

February 26th – Part III

6:30-8:30 pm

Part I: Participation in the Special Education Process
This training discusses how children with disabilities and their parents are guaranteed certain rights, known as procedural safeguards, from ages birth through 21.

Part II: Participation in the IEP Process
This training provides an overview of the purpose of the IEP, who may participate in the IEP meeting, how to prepare for and participate in the IEP process.

Part III: Parents as Advocates
The training includes information on effective communication, what to do when you disagree
with the proposed program for the student and following the chain of command. The training focuses on the importance of learning appropriate advocacy skills.
